Incredibly versatile, these cute cones can be filled with any number of candies or goodies (of course, ice cream!) and sprinkled with a variety of colored nonpareils for different holidays.

Just Spilling Holiday Delight!
Makes 1-4 Cornucopias
Ingredients
- 4 Ice cream waffle cones
- 1 c. Semisweet chocolate chips*
- Approx. 1/4 c. orange, yellow and white candy nonpareils (seasonal...Wilton has in 1.4 oz pouches)

Shhh...Our Secret How Easy They Actually Are!
Directions
- Fill a coffee mug with room temperature water. Dip the tip of the cone into the water about 1 1/4" for 20 seconds. Immediately place in the microwave on a piece of wax or parchment paper for 20 seconds. Pull out of the microwave right away and place onto a wax or parchment-lined baking sheet.*
- Working quickly...with the cavity facing up, about 1 1/4" from the tip of the cone (or right before the wet area ends) gently press the handle of a (small-medium) wooden spoon or the narrow side of the handle of a spatula into the cone and very carefully pull the tip of the cone up and hold for about 20 seconds to take the shape of the end of a cornucopia. Set aside on a wax or parchment-paper lined baking sheet.
- In a 2 c. glass measuring cup (or microwave-safe small bowl) microwave the chocolate chips on high in (about two each) 30 second intervals, stirring well each time until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Roll the cavity of the cone in the chocolate just enough to coat the edges about 1/2" (see photo above).* Immediately sprinkle with your fingers the nonpareils onto the chocolate. Use a spoon to add more to areas you missed.
- Let cones set at room temperature for about an hour. Store in one layer on wax or parchment paper in a plastic container with a lid.
- To present as favors, fill with candy corn and place cavity side down into cellophane bags and tie with Fall-colored bows and/or twine.
- To use for other holidays, the tip does not have to be bent as for the cornucopia.
- Only melt one cup of chocolate at a time.
- Have a damp paper towel handy to wipe the chocolate off your hands, as necessary, to avoid getting onto the body of the cones.
- one little project at a time also provides good instructions for shaping the cones.
My son and his wife hosted a fabulous Thanksgiving feast this year in their historic home, which was the perfect holiday setting. I presented them with cello-packaged filled waffle cone cornucopias as gifts for hosting.
