My daughter celebrated a milestone birthday this month. Strawberry cake is one of her favorites; and for her special birthday, I wanted to prepare a special cake. So, I did a twist on traditional strawberry shortcake and made a tall square strawberry shortcake with three layers! She said she loved it because it's so light...a perfect spring dessert!
I just can't decide on the photo with which to lead this post...the uncut cake photo shows what a beautiful presentation this cake makes; however, the sliced cake photo is such a great shot and shows how tempting the cake is, hmm...
This is how we started the cake...
And, this is after we cut the cake...
For the layers, I used a recipe I've been making for years. Normally, it makes three 8" layers or one 13" x 9" x 2" cake. I have spent quite a bit of time researching on the internet the Betty
Crocker cookbook from which I adapted the recipe for the layers. However, when I find
my vintage Betty Crocker cookbook, which is packed away since my move, I
will provide the printing issue information.
Recipe coming soon!
Happy Spring y'all!
